Professional Oral Hygiene
The most advanced prevention to keep your smile healthy.

At The Velvet Touch Clinic, oral hygiene is performed by a licensed Oral Hygienist using the international Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT®) protocol. This is a modern, minimally invasive, and scientifically based approach to removing biofilm, plaque, and stains, while preserving teeth, gums, and implants as much as possible.

What is Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT®)?
Most people believe that oral hygiene is only about removing tartar. In reality, the main culprit behind cavities, gingivitis, and periodontal disease is bacterial biofilm, an invisible film that forms daily on teeth, gums, fillings, and implants.
Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT®) is a clinical protocol developed by EMS that allows for the precise, comfortable, and minimally invasive identification, removal, and control of biofilm.
By first revealing the biofilm and selectively removing it, we achieve more effective hygiene, preserving tooth enamel and gum tissue.
Why choose GBT®?

Complete removal of biofilm
The biofilm is identified before treatment, allowing for much more precise cleaning.
Greater comfort
AIRFLOW® technology significantly reduces the need for manual scaling, making treatment more comfortable.
Preserves teeth
Removes biofilm and stains without unnecessarily wearing down tooth enamel.
Insurance for implants
Ideal for patients with implants, crowns, veneers, prostheses, and orthodontic appliances.
Removes surface stains
It eliminates staining caused by coffee, tea, red wine, and tobacco, restoring teeth to their natural shine.
Long-term prevention
It helps reduce the risk of cavities, gingivitis, and periodontal disease, contributing to better oral health.
How does the consultation proceed?

1. Clinical Assessment
A licensed Oral Hygienist performs a complete oral health assessment, identifies risk factors, and determines the most appropriate protocol for each patient's needs.

2. Biofilm Revelation
A developer is applied that makes the biofilm visible, allowing identification of areas that need treatment and providing a more precise and personalized approach.

3. Removal of Biofilm and Calculus
Biofilm is removed using AIRFLOW® technology and, when necessary, dental calculus is eliminated using PIEZON® technology, ensuring a comfortable, effective, and minimally invasive treatment.

4. Polishing and Maintenance Plan
At the end of the appointment, the tooth surfaces are polished, and personalized oral hygiene recommendations are provided, as well as the ideal frequency for the next maintenance appointment.
Who is it suitable for?
The GBT® protocol is recommended for virtually all patients, including:
Adults and children
Wearers of crowns and veneers
Smokers
Patients with dental implants
People with periodontal disease
People who aim to maintain excellent oral health.
Patients with orthodontic braces
Patients with high susceptibility to caries
